The 2024 GEO Symposium and Open Data & Open Knowledge Workshop (ODOK) will be held in Hangzhou, China from 23 to 26 September 2024. Under the theme ‘From Vision to Action: Crafting GEO’s Post 2025 Implementation Plan’, the Symposium and ODOK will focus on translating the GEO Post-2025 Strategy into a detailed and costed Implementation Plan. The GEO Blue Planet workshop on ocean observation and prediction to address coastal sustainability in Africa took place online on 6 June 2023. The 3-hour workshop brought together 44 participants from 14 countries, representing UN bodies, regional organisations, coastal stakeholders, and practitioners and national groups working on coastal monitoring and management.
Building on the outcomes of the Coastal Hazards Plenary Session and Coastline Changes workshop held during the GEO Blue Planet 5th Symposium (2022, Accra), this event will focus on identifying the priorities and needs for ocean observations and prediction to address the challenges of coastal sustainability in Africa.
