Ocean Observation and Prediction for Coastal Sustainability in Africa
Organised by GEO Blue Planet, this online workshop aims at contributing to the ongoing endeavors on sustainable management of coastal areas by identifying stakeholder requirements and priorities to address coastal challenges using ocean observation and prediction.
Objectives include providing an overview an existing Earth observation-based tools and solutions for monitoring coastal challenges and exchanging with ocean and coastal sectors practitioners and stakeholders, in regard to addressing the challenges of coastal sustainability Africa, requirements and priorities for defining or supporting implementation of the coastal services.
The expected outcomes are to gather inputs to inform on priorities and requirements of coastal users and to serve as a base for:
- Identifying the current most important societal and scientific drivers of different regional coastal development, and
- shaping the relevant coastal challenge topics to be addressed at the upcoming events.
