We are looking for our next Programme Scientist!
Mercator Ocean International is hiring for a Programme Scientist to support the GEO Blue Planet initiative.
Working within our Scientific Directorate, you will help connect ocean science with policy and societal needs. You will support the GEO Blue Planet European Office, contribute to international working groups, and help co-design practical ocean knowledge and information with scientists, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the coordination of GEO Blue Planet working groups
- Developing new activities with experts and stakeholders
- Promoting these activities with the GEO Blue Planet European Office and EU4OceanObs communications team
- Connecting relevant Mercator Ocean International projects with GEO Blue Planet activities
We are looking for someone with:
- A PhD in environmental science, oceanography, geopolitics, or social sciences related to the marine environment, or a relevant master’s degree with at least two years of experience
- Knowledge of ocean science, ocean services, and their applications
- Experience working at the science-policy interface
- Strong project coordination and international networking skills
- Full professional proficiency in English
Location: Toulouse, France
Contract: Full-time, fixed-term contract until 30 June 2028
Start date: As soon as possible
Salary: €40,000–€45,000
