GEO Global Forum 2025
The inaugural GEO Global Forum in 2025 will be a premier global event to inspire all elements of our society – from Ministers and global leaders to citizens – to harness Earth Intelligence to empower informed and ambitious actions to ensure food security, restore ecosystems, prevent disasters, and confront the triple planetary crisis, transforming the Sustainable Development Goals into an achievable reality.
At the heart of the week, GEO-20 Plenary will include a Ministerial Segment and serve as the event’s centrepiece, where the GEO community will mark three key milestones in our journey:
- The launch, through the first GEO Global Forum, of a dynamic platform for advancing Earth Intelligence for all.
- The celebration of the GEO’s 20th anniversary, marking two decades of multilateral collaboration, innovation, and impact.
- The adoption of the Post-2025 Strategy Implementation Plan that must deliver the ambitious goals of GEO’s Post-2025 Strategy

GEO Blue Planet Activities
Monday 5: Bringing Ocean Observation and Prediction to Decision Makers for the Benefit of Society GEO Community Event Session
We will host a dynamic community event during the GEO Global Forum 2025. This gathering will bring together global stakeholders to explore how Earth observation (EO) data and information can be effectively harnessed to support sustainable ocean and coastal management.
As climate change, pollution, and human activity intensify pressures on the marine environment, the need for coordinated, data-driven decision-making has never been greater. This event will spotlight cutting-edge EO applications in support of coastal resilience, marine biodiversity monitoring, early warning systems, and sustainable blue economy development. Special emphasis will be placed on user needs, data accessibility, and co-design of solutions.
The session will feature interactive panels, thematic showcases, and opportunities for participants to connect with GEO Blue Planet Work Programme.
Tuesday 6: Join GEO Blue Planet’s Audrey Hasson at the Copernicus: Earth Observation Services in Support of EU Policies, Market Uptake and Broader Earth Intelligence Community Event Session
Earth Intelligence implies the integration of diverse Earth Observation data with other information to deliver sustained services for policy and decision-making across scales.
Copernicus, the European Union’s flagship Earth Observation programme and most prominent European contribution to GEO, provides a strong basis for achieving these needs. It offers a robust foundation of operational services addressing also various horizontal domains which can provide targeted added-value support to policy and decision-makers in numerous areas.
Copernicus data, products, and services are provided on a full, free and open basis. As such, they provide direct contributions to the implementation of GEO Initiatives and Flagships.
Furthermore, Copernicus evolves continuously to address emerging needs and requirements through new research and technology developments to ensure it remains state-of-the-art and evolves with GEO post-2025 priorities.
The objective of the session is to demonstrate the benefits of Copernicus in supporting EU policies and promoting market uptake of Earth observation, and to emphasize its contribution to broader Earth Intelligence and decision-making. We expect the event to further stimulate global uptake of Copernicus and to strengthen cooperation between Copernicus and the global GEO community.
May 5 – 9: Join us at our booth in the Exhibition Area.
We’ll be on hand to chat about GEO Blue Planet’s activities and showcase two new short videos.
